I first took the plunge into the underwater world back in 2013, learning to dive in the Maldives — a place so stunning it set the bar impossibly high from the very beginning. That first breath beneath the surface opened up a whole new realm of exploration for me, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
The Maldives remains my favourite dive destination. There’s just something magical about drifting past vibrant coral gardens, graceful manta rays, and the occasional curious turtle in those crystal-clear waters. It’s there I also discovered my love for underwater photography — capturing the serene beauty, fleeting encounters, and surreal landscapes most people never get to see.
When it comes to marine life, I’m drawn to the full spectrum — from the eye-popping spectacle of the mantis shrimp, with its alien-like eyes and dazzling technicolour shell, to the quiet, poetic charm of seahorses gliding through the shallows. But one personal favourite that continues to challenge me from a macro photography perspective is the elusive pygmy seahorse. These miniature marvels, often no larger than a grain of rice, blend almost perfectly with their coral habitats, demanding patience, precision, and just the right lighting to capture their shy beauty.
Diving has become more than just a sport or pastime. It’s a way to connect with nature, challenge myself, and tell visual stories from beneath the waves. Looking ahead, I’m keen to expand both my diving and photography skills. Whether it’s mastering new techniques, exploring bucket-list destinations like Raja Ampat or the Galápagos, or documenting lesser-known ecosystems, I’m always chasing the next great shot — and the next great adventure.
