IDEST Cylinder Testing

Cylinder Testing You Can Trust

A diving cylinder spends its life repeatedly containing gas at very high pressure. Periodic inspection and testing helps ensure it remains suitable for continued service.

Wiltshire Scuba operates an IDEST D7 cylinder testing centre in Swindon, supporting recreational divers, dive professionals, clubs and other suitable cylinder users.

Scuba Cylinders

We can support a range of suitable diving cylinders, including common steel scuba cylinders, aluminium scuba cylinders, pony cylinders, stage/deco cylinders and twinset cylinders. If you’re unsure what test your cylinder requires, bring it in or contact us with the cylinder markings.

Air Gun & PCP Cylinders

Our testing services are also relevant to suitable compressed-air cylinders used by the air rifle and PCP community. If you’re unsure whether we can test your particular cylinder, send us the cylinder manufacturer, markings, current test information and a photograph if helpful — we’ll confirm what can be done.

Club Cylinder Testing

Testing several cylinders? Contact us before booking individually. We can discuss club pricing for suitable volume work for dive clubs, university clubs, dive schools, air gun clubs, PCP clubs and organisations managing multiple cylinders.

Blue Light & Defence Discounts

Selected cylinder-testing discounts are available to eligible Blue Light Card members and Defence Discount Service members. Wiltshire Scuba is veteran-owned and we’re pleased to support both communities. Contact us if you’d like to confirm the current offer.

What Happens If My Cylinder Fails?

If we identify a problem during inspection or testing, we’ll explain what we’ve found. Depending on the issue, possible outcomes might include further assessment, repair/rework where permitted and appropriate, valve replacement, cleaning, or the cylinder being considered unsuitable for continued service. We will never knowingly return an unsuitable cylinder to service simply because replacement is inconvenient.

Oxygen Service

If a suitable cylinder is intended for oxygen-rich gas service, oxygen cleaning can be carried out where appropriate. Tell us the intended use when booking so the cylinder can be processed correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know when my cylinder needs testing?

Your cylinder markings and previous test information help determine when testing is due. If you’re unsure, bring it in and we’ll check.

Can you test cylinders that weren’t bought from you?

Yes. Suitable cylinders can be presented for testing regardless of where they were originally purchased.

Do you test PCP / air rifle cylinders?

We can support suitable cylinders used within the air gun/PCP community. Contact us with the cylinder details if you’re unsure.

Can I get the cylinder filled after testing?

Where the cylinder has successfully completed the appropriate testing and is suitable for filling, air fills are available through Wiltshire Scuba.

Can you oxygen-clean the cylinder at the same time?

Where appropriate, yes. Tell us when booking if oxygen-clean service is required.
