The PADI Boat Diver course teaches you how to dive safely and confidently from different types of dive boats while understanding the procedures, etiquette and planning that make boat diving smooth and stress-free.
Why Take the Boat Diver Course?
Boat diving is different from shore diving. Every vessel has its own procedures, equipment layout and methods of entering and exiting the water. Learning these skills in advance allows you to relax and enjoy the dive rather than worrying about what happens on the boat.
The course helps you understand different types of dive boats, prepare your equipment efficiently, enter and exit the water safely, follow skipper and crew briefings, and become a more confident travelling diver. What You Will Learn

- Giant stride and other appropriate entries
- Safe exits using ladders and lift systems

- Courtesy and etiquette on busy dive boats
Course Requirements
- Be at least 10 years old (Junior Boat Diver available from age 10 under current PADI standards).
- Hold a PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification).
- Be medically fit to dive.
- Complete the required participant paperwork.

Absolutely. Many divers complete Boat Diver before travelling overseas because it helps them feel more confident on unfamiliar dive boats.

That’s exactly who this course is designed for. We’ll introduce each stage gradually so you feel comfortable before entering the water.
What should I do after Boat Diver?
Many divers continue with Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Drift Diver (where offered) and Rescue Diver.
