IDEST Composite Cylinder Course
Extending your inspection scope to composite cylinders
A short course for technicians who already inspect and test steel and aluminium cylinders and need to add composites.
It works to EN ISO 11623 and covers how composite cylinders are built, how they fail, and what can and cannot be repaired.
Training is delivered by Wiltshire Scuba, an IDEST training centre (TC021) and IDEST test centre D7, in our own working workshop.

On completing the course you will be able to:
- Understand how a composite cylinder is constructed
- Visually assess a composite cylinder inside and out
- Decide whether damage needs repair, and which method applies
- Hydraulically test a composite cylinder

Practical Workshop Training
The course runs partly as a presentation and partly in the workshop, and the workshop element is the point of it. You will do the work yourself rather than watch it being done.
Class sizes are small, so you get individual coaching rather than a demonstration from the back of a room.
Entry Requirements
You should already be a qualified IDEST test centre technician, able to inspect and test steel and aluminium cylinders.

Common Questions
Why is it so much shorter than the other courses?
Because it extends a skill you already have rather than teaching it from scratch. It assumes you can already inspect and test steel and aluminium cylinders.

Can composite cylinders be repaired?
Some damage can be, and part of the course is knowing which.
