IDEST Regulator Servicing Course
Strip, service and test a regulator properly
A course for dive technicians who want to add regulator servicing to what their workshop can offer.
It covers how regulators actually work, and then puts you in front of one with the right tools.
Training is delivered by Wiltshire Scuba, an IDEST training centre (TC021) and IDEST test centre D7, in our own working workshop.

What You Will Be Able To Do
On completing the course you will be able to:
- Explain the principles a first and second stage work on
- Assess a regulator before you take it apart
- Dismantle, clean and reassemble a regulator confidently and competently
- Test that a regulator is working properly
- Complete the service documentation correctly

Practical Workshop Training
The course runs partly as a presentation and partly in the workshop, and the workshop element is the point of it. You will do the work yourself rather than watch it being done.
Class sizes are small, so you get individual coaching rather than a demonstration from the back of a room.
Entry Requirements
No previous regulator servicing qualification is required.
A basic understanding of scuba equipment is an advantage, because the course moves at a working pace.

This course is not a substitute for a manufacturer’s own course. Manufacturers generally require their own training before they will supply you with service kits, so if your intention is to service a particular brand commercially, you will need their course as well as this one. We would rather say so before you book than afterwards.

Common Questions
Will this let me buy service kits from manufacturers?
Generally not on its own. Manufacturers usually require their own brand training before supplying kits. This course gives you the underlying skill and an IDEST qualification.
Do I need to be a diver?
No.
Will I work on real regulators?
Yes, with the correct tools, and you will test what you have reassembled.
