BCD & Wing Servicing
Reliable Buoyancy Starts With Equipment You Can Trust
Your BCD or wing does a lot of work on every dive. It helps control your buoyancy, supports you at the surface and provides the connection between you, your cylinder and much of your diving equipment.
At Wiltshire Scuba, we service and inspect recreational BCDs, wings and suitable buoyancy systems from our Service Centre in Swindon.
What We Check
Depending on the design of your BCD or wing, servicing can include inspection and testing of:
- Power inflator assembly and oral inflation valve
- Inflator buttons and mechanisms
- Corrugated hose, dump valves and over-pressure valves
- Bladder / air cell, seals and O-rings
- Cylinder bands and attachment points
- Integrated-weight systems
- General condition, inflation and leak testing
BCDs and Wings
We work with both conventional jacket-style BCDs and modular wing systems, including jacket BCDs, back-inflate BCDs, wings, backplate and wing systems, twinset wings and travel BCDs. Send us the make and model if you’re unsure whether we can service it.
Standard BCD Service: £65. If replacement parts are required beyond the standard service work, we’ll discuss the additional cost before proceeding.
When Should I Have My BCD Checked?
A BCD should be inspected if the inflator sticks or behaves inconsistently, it slowly loses gas, a dump valve leaks, inflation feels slower than usual, the corrugated hose shows deterioration, it has been stored for a long period, it has had heavy salt-water use, you have purchased it second-hand, or you’re simply unsure of its condition. Manufacturer maintenance recommendations should always be followed where applicable.
Repairs
Some BCD problems can be repaired economically. Others may not be worth repairing depending on age, parts availability, bladder condition, damage and overall value. We’ll explain what we’ve found and help you decide whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
Club Equipment
We welcome servicing enquiries from dive clubs and training organisations with multiple BCDs or wings. Contact us to discuss volume requirements and club pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you service any BCD?
We can work with many common BCD and wing systems, but parts availability varies. Send us the manufacturer and model if you’d like confirmation.
My BCD has a slow leak. Can you find it?
We can inspect and leak-test suitable BCDs and wings to identify likely causes.
Do wings need servicing?
Wings have fewer components than many jacket BCDs, but inflators, dump valves, hoses and air cells still require inspection and maintenance.
Can you replace an inflator hose?
Where compatible parts are available, we can replace worn or damaged components.
